Hi All
As stated above I have a EB Fairmont, and up until looking at doing the shiftkit mod assumed it was series 1. But after reading threw I am not so sure it has the 4.0I 6Cyl and the 4spd Auto, The ECU is 1DCC and I cant find a TCM or anything under the park brake also the build date is 07/92 according to the info I found here a lot of this point to it being a series 2 but I am not so sure so could someone please confirm which series this is or how I would find out for sure. Series II: Glossy door handles, 4.0L badges on 6 cylinder models, and body-coloured bumpers for the base model.
4.0L 6 cyl (Series II) Bore and stroke: 92 x 99 mm Power: 148kW at 4500rpm Torque: 348Nm at 3750rpm Overhead camshaft, 2 valves per cylinder Fuel system: EEC IV fuel injection Compression ratio: 8.8:1 information taken from http://www.geocities.com/falconfacts/fa ... alcon.html mine is a 6/93 and mine has all as stated above i even have the series 2 ecu (1DCE - 1993 EB II Auto, smartlock, 3.23 diff ) hope this helps

It sounds like your is an early series 2. My old Red EB was one of these, and it had some Series one bits on it, like the boot garnish said GL instead of GLi etc. The best way to tell a series 1 from a series 2 from a visual perspective is the windscreen wiper cowl. A series one sits up high and protrudes above the bonnet, and a series two, sits down low below the bonnet. Your car would also be a pre smartlock car as this was introduced in Sept 92 i.e. No remote central locking, and a lap buckle, non retractable centre rear seat belt. Cheers BenJ

Thanks for all the reply's I guess ill go with series 2, Been raining here all day but I got out between showers and got some pics which may help,

So is there any point in upgrading ecu and if I did would it just be a simple plug in operation. Thanks again for all your help |

Yep, your car is a Series 11.
If you want to upgrade to the J3 chip, you need to use an EL ECU. You will be able to get the smartlock turned off on the J3 so that shouldn't be an issue. Yes, the EL ECU is just a plug in option. BenJ

They look like series 2 Au XR wheels. Not sure on the exact colour though.
