When in shoping car parks and idleing along (auto) and taking corners, for some reason the rpm sometimes increases and the speed does slightly

Are you hard locking? As I understand it when your at a hard lock there's a valve that opens in the power steering fluid line, and I'd say there <i>might</i> be more of a load on the power steering pump.

This is just wild speculation here I could be way off, If anyone wants to correct me I won't take harshly to it :lol:

Engine has to work harder to cope with increased strain on ps pump.

when the steering wheel is turned no matter how hard the engine will pick up rpm's thank's to the power steering pressure switch!

should happen when you do anything to make the engine work harder like turn on ac, turn steering wheel, or even switch on high beam. this is all controlled by the isc.
theres nothing wrong with your car and your engine wont blow up because of it so theres nothin to worry about
