a start is a good set of extractors and a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with a sports muffler, which should set you back about $ 800.00 fitted:)

2.5" catback will sound nice and will still have that crackle on lift off.

i think genie extractors with a 2.5 will also keep that crackle.

pacemaker extractors and 2.5" will not have the crackle, but the beefy note on idle and load is awesome. plus lets the engine breathe nicer.

do what i did on the weekend...i had a redback 2.5' only with standard cat and manifold, wasnt loud enough so i got the mufflers removed, now its loud, idles like a 8, crackles downshifting, and barks and spits when giving it some. Very illegal though.

Pacemaker 4499 extractors, high flow cat, red back 2.5 inch cat back wich has sports mufller and then add straight through muffler at rear, a nice tip to suit. :-P

just adding a 2.5 sports exhaust sounds nice.
just with the single muffler it almost sounds like an 8 (got asked a few times if it was) just burbles on idle and sounds pretty good when cruising around. Had this on my EL that my lad has now got but as soon as he put the pacies on it changed it completely and got done for excessive noise and had to get another muffler put on to tone it down a bit. Sounded better before but he is happy with the extra power of the pacemakers tho.

Do what i did to my el xr6, fit some Genies and then get the 9inch grinder out and cut off all the mufflers/ resonaters, except the big muffler before the diff. All the other ones are straight (not offset like the one before the diff) go to the exhaust shop and get a lenght of 2 1/4, it cost me $30 for 2metres. Then just cut the pipe to lenght and weld it in! BANG instant sports exhaust for $30 bucks!
MIne sounds great. Oh BTW I made up a jig that looks abit like a big U. I tacked it on to the pipe, then cut out the muffler/resonater, cut your pipe to lenght then weld it in. It stops your exhaust from going out of alignment or twisting after your cut the s**t out.
Oh BTW i didn't cut out the cat either
