do u want to make it pop and gurgle?, they are signs that the exhaust has leaks around the flanges or welds.

I dunno about everyone else, but i reckon without the cat converter in the system the exhaust seems to 'pop' on heavy deceleration or when returning to idle after you rev it in neutral. My EF has no cat as theres no law to say you need one in NZ well not for older cars anyway. My one seems to pop now and then when returning to idle if i rev it a bit. Being auto though it doesnt do it on deceleration except for when i have to use the gears to slow down

Only downside is that its illegal in Aussy to have no cat. Dunno if this would work to the same effect but you could try taking out the rear muffler and just run the centre one?

You need a gutted/no cat, and one small muffler, plus a decent set of extractors.
Thats my setup, and I get a bit of pop, nothing stupid though.

remove your rear muffler and you'll be set.
on my old ef i had a set of pacemakers hi flow cat and a 2.5 lukey with one muffler. on down shifts and also when you just got off the throttle made an awesome gurgling noise just like your describing.

do that before you go f**k with your cat man my car even made the same noise when i had the stock cat on there, adding the hi flow one didnt change a thing for me except for giving the car a s**t note!

how much will the sound change when removing rear muffler? I don't want my exhaust note to change, just want to add the gargle..

i only have a single box on the AU and i don't get any popping so i think it mainly related to cats.

My XR6 popped with Pacie 4499's and a 2.5" Lukey system, my XR8 does it too, with stock headers, stock cats and a single 3" with 1 muffler in both exhausts

you'll find that overfueling on overrun will cause it more than any change to your exhaust.

alot of people find using an xr6 computer adds this.

i have mods below, and a "custom empty :P highflow cat" and it only snaps and pops at low rpm decel, say under 2krpm.

Dont remove any exhaust thats stupid.

Ive got JMM extractors and zorst with muffler, resignator and ceramic cat bolted to a stock engine(soon to be EL hybrid) with better CAI.

If auto, just knock it down to first or second early, thats enough for mine to burrbblleee? untill idle.

Regards,

Michael.

I think hes after the louder pop that you get from a pretty much straight thru exhaust, and a bit of extra fuel.

Mine burbles all the way back to idle as well, pretty much any aftermarket system will burble.

No cat guts will give you that pop my current cat has no guts and you can get popping and back fire from down changing and slow up shifts,i wouldnt recomend it though sometimes sounds like a gun shot scares the crap outta other motorists, and i am on my second 3 inch muffler if to much fuel builds up in the cat its all over for the muffler and the flames probably draw the wrong kinda attention, also over run in the idle circuit can make that gurgle, adjust your idle up on your throttle body(so it stays open to much when it returns to idle) I adjusted mine more closed to get rid of that gurgle or flutter that my car had.

Mine when i got it had the throttle stop adjusted out (dont know why) and that combined with the tune had a real strange gurgle as it idled down and some times pop before it went to idle, i adjusted it back close to normal and after the tune it now just closes and kinda lopes along rather then carry on.
