Hi,
I was driving home this morning when my EL died this morning going round a corner, as soon as i tried to start it again the engine would just turn over and immediatley turn off, i checked the engine bay but apart from a small rip in my air intake hose everything looked fine. Its running on LPG and petrol and i haven't come across anything like this before. Ive left it where it is and ill need to get it toed back home in a few hours too have a closer look. Im completely puzzled as too what it is, any one have any ideas?

The NRMA and a number of other people have advised me that the coil pack is dead, i wanted to know how hard this would be to do at home and if theres possibly a guide or doco somewhere on how to do it. Also im not sure if the EL runs a dizzy and coil or just the coil pack. and replys would be appreciated, thanks

It runs a coil located under the inlet manifold. Its a real pain in the a*** the first time you do one but you do get better at it. Best tackled from underneath but you can do it from top if you remove the airbox etc, but easier from underneath.

make sure your car is well supported on axle stands etc as you will be right inderneath the car swearing like a trucker in a whorehouse............

I just pulled the air intake and airbox out and got a look at the coil, although im not too sure as too wether or not i need to change the whole thing as im not too sure what im looking for, I know its the cylindracil looking thing with all the leads coming out the top but i cant see where its bolted on and were Im going to pull it off from.

Im also a bit stuck on how im going to go about reaching it as i can only just see it and i cant really see a path from underneath.

also, is there any other parts i may aswel change while im down there, cause once it get the new one on i dont think ill wanting to be going back down there.

its only small, sits on the block on the rear half of the engine. Only has 1 spark lead and a clip on connector. Like I said its a real fun job

Do thr TFI first - same symptoms easier to get at. And buy a manual or do you have wireless internet and a laptop...

would I be right in assuming its not the TFI as there is a very weak spark, i would of thought that if it was the tfi there would be no spark at all
