Hi all,

Having a little more trouble with my 1995 EF Fairmont, the oil pressure gauge is reading Max (7) at idle and I'm also getting a warning beep (beep, beep, beep), which I figure is because the gauge is so high.. I'm guessing this isn't normal and the oil pressure sender is probably rooted or something :(, anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
Callum

You will need to take the oil filter off to give you some room.....it's just above it really.....you'll need a short spanner to undo it....can't remember what size...14mm, 16mm.....????

No, you will need a deep socket, 1 1/8" I think, can't remember exact size. Be extremly careful as it is very easy to break the sender unit. Pull you air box, that way you can get your hand in there.

I think he has a gauge, so it will be a sender unit, and not a switch......????

i just changed mine yesterday. its 27mm or 1-1/16" extra deep socket, long extension. take out airbox and snorkel so you have a bit of room. i found a spanner no good as once its on, the castings in the block dont allow you to move it much.

So I got around to playing with it today (a month later lol) and the Oil Pressure Sender seems to be different to newer ones I've seen. Will installing a newer Oil Pressure Sender work? Or are the voltages different?

That looks similar to the early E series sender... They were a big mushroomed looking thing... Wonder if someone did the shifty on it in the past...

Mine is sometimes working, sometimes on the way out... So I have a new Tridon one ordered instead of a Ford one that has been sitting in a bag for 10 years... Found them on ebay... Tridon seems to make good everything else so I figured why not...

Cheers,
Tim
