i read that just before aswell actually. a few people on here told me they're about 60 at ford.
what is a shim exactly? what's it look like? |

We have at no stage tried to suggest that the shims we sell are cheap. Some members will confirm that we have recommended that they try buying them from Ford because they should be cheaper. We had them specially made because we were told the supply from Ford was drying up which turned out to be incorrect. We are not about to sell them at a loss just to match the Ford dealer price. I'm a big fan of using washers from the local hardware store. JMM and Its Performance seems to agree too
Works out cheap at under $5

My apologies for coming on a bit strong. But seriously....we don't push them as a product because we don't want people coming back to us after buying them and complaining that that they have been overcharged. Works out cheap at under $5 You need to make sure that the washers that you fit are made of a suitably hard material. Normal washers from a Hardware store are probably not hard enough. Chris WADE CAMS |

I've only ever re-used the washers which were provided by JMM, but i'm certain that its ALOT cheaper than using the Ford shims

is there a certain thickness that is needed. cos i can get a 2nd hand pair only used a bit, but wanna make sure of the thickness cos it adjusts the lift of the valve dont it?

Merry Xmas Chris WADE CAMS thats what you guys told me too. i have found wade cams to be very helpful, i'm impressed with there customer service. even though when using the 1004 in my car it went slower. i contacted wadecams and they tried to sort it out for me. when it came to every thing being installed correctly and timed right, the guys offered to change the cam over for a grind of my choosing at no cost, so long as i send my cam back. To the crew at wade, sorry i havn't gotten back to yet. been a bit busy. i'll call some time this week to sort every thing out. |
