The way i see it is: A turbo is for performance, not sound. The sound is just a bonus of having a turbo. Having the sound with no turbo is like riding a bike around with speakers pumping out v8 sounds. Doesnt make any sense to me at all. Or am i completely incorrect in my assumption?

 hahahhaah that made my day

My 00.02c worth... if it isn't a V8, leave the stock exhaust (or something really quiet on it). If you've found an accessory in Supercheap that seems like it'll make your car look racey, it probably won't. Go on to some of the US sites like bangshift, Hot Rod etc. and have a look through some of the images to see what makes cars stand out and look good - you WON'T find spoilers and crap ... normally its a `less is more' very subtle look that really makes a car stand out . I'm not saying this is the only way to make a car look good but a hotch potch of accessories just makes your car look like a Supercheap discount rack. I saw an EL on Saturday night (in Adelaide) that was trying to pick a race with me - extremely loud exhaust on a 6, lowered, spoiler and 5 bogan P platers on board. The `race' consisted of him stomping on the accelerator and then brakes because he had all of 2 car lengths in the traffic to move in...
Now this dude is welcome to carry on how he wants but seriously, if I was a cop I would have defected his a** just because of the ungodly racket it made...

OK, end of rant, I'll shut up now.

look guys, im 17. i dont make much money and i cant mod my vehicle, i understand all the s**t about if your going to mod it then do it properly but obviously i cant, but i dont want to be driving around staring at other cars wishing mine was as good that is why im going to the hasle of asking these questions and hearing other peoples opinions. im still learning this stuff ok. on my p's i wont my car to look at least a little nice and sound as nice as possible without getting in to trouble. hence the reason for a fake BOV

Sorry mate I wasn't meaning it to sound like I'm having a go, far from it - I suppose all I'm saying is have a good look at how the modification's going to look and, if you like it, go ahead - everyones got the right to do up their car their way - its just some people seem to just slap stickers and bits on without thinking about how it looks and the end result looks crappy.

nah its cool bud. i just didnt want arguments to start with people cus all im trying to do is learn a bit bout cars and see peoples opinions to what i had in mind. its helped a lot and i think i will go with the fake BOV, spoiler idea went out a while ago haha, got shown a pic and it looked terrible, but for some fun while im on my p's im going to go with the BOV. just not sure where to get one from

I saw something about them just the other day, but can't think where - do a search on Ebay or even just google, I'm sure they are around. From what I can see its essentially some kind of whistle device in the exhaust flow so its not going to hurt anything - by the looks it just uses a u type bracket that clamps to the side of the exhaust pipe...
