My BF falcon air con has just started making this weird noise (last 3 days). It increases as the fan speed increases and is bloody annoiying. The noise is coming from the front passenger foot well behind the glove box which is where video is taken from. The video aint the best but it was more the sound i wanted to capture.
Any ideas on what it could be? Is it just the fan? can it be replaced easily or I am looking at a s**t load of money?? I bet its the latter, f**k cars! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQTmxwkG5zo

sounds like its got some leaves inside the box fan hitting them.

would the leaves get in there though? Its a constant noise though only increases with speed, the tone is always the same, surely if it were leaves it would be making different noises as they moved? Is there an easy way to get them out? Its pretty cramped down there so im thinkin its a prick of a job

yep, leaves or something has gotten into the airbox.
pull out your glove box. Its behind there. Easy enough to get to. I cant remember how much access you get but easy to do. |

How would have gotten in there in the first place? is there a spot in the engine bay i can cover up to stop it happening again?

The vents in front of the windscreen!
Cant do anything to avoid it except, dont park under trees

On the outside of the car yeah? If thats so then this makes sense because this f**k tree is in flower at home and my car has been constantly getting covered in these small pink flowers

Yep, these are the culprits.
If you can come up with a way of keeping this area clean without disrupting airflow, I'm sure Ford would love to hear from you =D |

LOL i think a finer mesh would help! i will post some pics of how i go on the weekend

Yeah got the glove box down but was all too hard and i didnt want to remove the mesh to get more s**t into the fan, so i didnt go any further. I just put the music up louder so i cant hear it

my car had the same noise, i open the tray that catches all the s**t, and their were leaves EVERYWHERE, i put 90% of the leaves on a page and took a photo of it. after the noise was still their but it was so quite that i've completely forgotten about it
