hi everyone,does anyone know the torque output on the i6 engines fitted to ef/el & au.i have already fitted a ef motor to my xf ute however it`s stuffed.i know kilowatts are the same for all 3 engine`s.thanks

off the top of my head all ef/el/au are a identical 357 Nm @3000rpm(i think)

thanks,so i guess there is no real advantage in steping up to a au engine unless it`s a vct or xr.looks like it will have to be a ba / bf dohc!

the only advantage of going to a au engine is it will be much smoother and better balanced engine.
but other than that the power and torque are rated the same as ef/el from factoey... |

also the motor apparently has a stronger bottom end,
you don't have to bother with the head gasket woes e-series have. compression is slightly better. also don't forget its a newer motor so chances are less km's and better condition.. if you really want to go down the road of a dohc, have a hard think and do a lot of home work, ill be budgeting a rough figure of 10k for parts and conversion costs.. dont believe people when they tell you it will only set you back a few thousand

the au's can get 10-15kws on average just with a flash tune, motor left stock, thanks to ford giving them an overly economy biased factory tune.
The rev nicer thanks to a (very slightly) longer rod/stroke ratio, which multiplies itself if you throw in a top end cam.

thanks guys for your input.i really wanted a dohc but cost is the main factor.by the sounds of it the au is a really good motor with a stronger bottom end and higher comp ,it`s perfect for a mild cam and ecu tweak.should i use my ef harness & ecm or go the au ecm.thanks, oh btw spotted a au engine on ebay $99. starting bid

Use the Ef manifold with its wiring harness but you can use the AU injectors and Au throtle body on the ef manifold and yes AU engines are really cheap and can find a bargain on ebay.

Dude, theres heaps of choices... Wagget, surecam, JMM, wade, tighe, crow just from the top of my limited knowledge, all do au cams, and perform varying degrees better than stock. Any cam shop worth its salt can adapt its e series profiles to an au camshaft if thats your bag.
