Standard lift is .500 If the lift is .512 need stiffer springs????

nope, std lift is around .455 iirc , and anything over .520 will need heavier springs..
the au springs wont bind untill about .580, but anything over .520 lift, the ramp rate of the lift is to much, there for the spring needs a higher spring pressure to close fast enough to stop the valve bouncing..

Well I had my head decked 20thou, crack tested, stem seals replaced and the crow springs and retainers I supplied done for $300... Sure its harder when its on the car, but not $800 hard.

ok do you have the AU head though with the double valves springs?

They charged me like $60 cash to deck the head flat on the fairmont when I did the h/g on it.

Yeh I did, though like I said its not that much harder to do it while its on, just sounds like they dont want the work.
ps. to get the head shaved, yes, you have to have the head off..
