Hey,
Recently it has been raining a fair bit around where i live. So obviously the wipers are getting a good workout. The problem being, this morning they were working fine with no sign of alarm. But later today, driving home the alarm light on the dash is coming on. The strange thing is that it is only illuminating when the blades themselves are moving. When they become stationary the light turns off. it doesn't matter at what speed they are going, as soon as the wiper motor needs to turn on to move the blades, the warning light comes on. The warning light is the one that is on the top part of the cluster, furthest to the left. It is a BA Mk2 XR6, does anyone know what it could possibly be?

Cheers

I am curious as to what this warning light looks like as i cant ever remember seeing a warning light for wipers, its not the first light in the top left corner is it?

Sorry wrong one, not the oil light one, the "brake failure" light. Now i know it's not the brakes, of that i am 100% certain. Could it possibly be water getting on the wiper motor? It's only very dull and it only happens when the arms are moving. I am very curious as to what this could be.

Do the XR's even have this function? Have you got a pic of the warning light?

I could only get a picture of the one i mean when i turn the ACC on
Image

it is the 2nd from the left, the one after the oil warning light. Now when it happens, it's not as bright as per the photo, it's just really dull. Basically only bright enough to just see during the day. Now im 100% certain it is not the brakes, and the wiper resovoir (?) is full. Could it possibly be water has just dripped onto the wiper motor? Like a short or something?

Cheers

Thats the smart shield warning light, if u read your owners manual book, it says that if it remains on or comes on whilst driving u should take it to a ford dealer,, its a car security warning light...

I read the book, it says it's the "brake failure" light.

The smart shield light is a red hand symbol
Check your battery terminal connections are clean. if so take the car to ford to get diagnosed. sounds like some type of earthing problem.
