Well i was under the impression BLACK smoke was to do with fuel/carbon n s**t whereas whitish grey smoke was to do with oil being burnt n so on..

blue is usually oil

black is carbon, maybe a/f ratios are a bit out, could have a faulty engine sensor so it isnt passing teh info back to the ecu for it to adjust accordingly

Black smoke is oil. Blue smoke is diesel. Grey smoke is fuel.

Everyone has different view here. Thats a worry! :P

I'm comfortable that black is fuel - I see clouds of it every day when I drive the waggin :)

PML!
I agree its a worry we all say different.
Dont take my word for it tho paul, thats just as i was led to believe, albeit black is certainly carbon/fuel (running way too rich) as nicko said.
Most fords blow a puff of black smock when kicked in the guts, they all tend to run rich, well majority rules.

Yeah well first dyno run after the blower i was running incredibly rich - less than 10:1 AF. Emitting LOTS of VERY black smoke out the zorst.

comhelp - you'll find these falcons run very rich at startup, as HEGO not really looked at initially and low coolant temp will cause EEC to richen the mixture.

Is it only when give it a bootful? Go away after a bit?

Sorry I disagree, Black smoke is a rich mixture, blue is oil burning.

yeah i was almost certain it was fuel since my O2 sensor has shat it self  oh well it can what till new year as for some reason it only effects petrol and not LPG :?

it could also be the camshaft position sensor that is putting it out too (once again this is f**k) oh i dont know but i THINK it is screaming out for a new engine lol

I concur with your laughing...

Black = Too Rich
Blue/Grey/White* = Oil

What makes me laugh is Blue smoke being diesel, now that is gold!!!

* = people have opposing opinions on which colour they saw come from the exhaust, it could be any of these, either way it needs a rebuild :D

If it leaks or disconected it'll run rich as....

but the thing is that it is ONLY running rich on petrol NOT on LPG which is why i am leading to the oxy sensor. Then it is missfiring due to the camshaft position sensor being f**k. Then the next problem is the diff as that is starting to play up a bit, ten, tehn, then, it just keeps going on
