gday guys.

whats the best stuff to use in my boot to stop the rattle from my subs.

i just installed 2 12" subs and the rattle is that damn annoying.

would some thick foam work or best to get some sound deadener for it?

cheers

Silicon gap filler or sikaflex between the bracing and bootskin on the underside of the bootlid and just chuck a bit of foam in all the other gaps in the bracing to absorb any other rattles. Then a few sheets of dynomat Xtreme over the top. Works wonders in my EF although now there is other rattles coming from elsewhere, but the bootlid is pretty much rattle free and feels much more solid.

I got some silicon gap filler from bunnings which you can get at any other hardware store. Sikaflex is good to use but its messy stuff. Sikaflex you should be able to get from supercheap, repco etc as its similar to what is used for windscreens, headlights etc.

Dynomat Xtreme i got from Repco at about $40 for a sheet, i needed 2 sheets to do it to, as one sheet only covered just over half of the boot. It is a bit expensive but its good stuff and works very well. You could you use any other type of sound deadener similar to dynomat which should also work. Think there was something similar at bunnings called Flash Tac or something like that which is way cheaper, but i prefer dynomat. Mine ended up looking like this after i was done..

Spot on, the original bootlid carpet just clips right back in over the top of it, took that photo just to show how the dynomat was placed, ive got the bootlid carpet covering up all that mess lol.
