Hey, so I can't open my bonnet anymore. It makes me sad because my battery is near dead and I can't put my new one in. I'd take a photo of the issue but it's not possible. The little lever thing you pull from under the fuse box to open the bonnet, the little end bit has come off the plastic pull bit and I can't seem to get it back in or open the bonnet with the cable. As far as I can tell, the cable is in one peice.

Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried grabbing the end of the cable with some pliers or vice grips, and opening the bonnet that way?

If all else fails, turn ur lights on and drain your battery. Then ring RACQ and get them to work out how to open the bonnet.

+1

It should work...if not there is something wrong with the cable...on the other end, if that is the case, then I have no solution for you.

I have tried with pliers and it didn't work. I guess I better go to my mechanic lol.

pull harder on the cable itself, while holding in place the plastic bracket/lever with the other hand. Another chap has had the same problem on this forum yesterday. It is a very common problem with ba's, and have had to do this many many times with numerous ba's we service. They are just a s**t quality piece.

Got it. I ended up having to pull the whole peice out and taking off the handle then pulling really hard on the cable. REALLY hard. But sure enough it popped open. I think the cable must need replacing. But yeah, very frustrating. New battery is in and I might get around to doing the fix I found on another forum which is putting a peice of piano wire across the top of the knob bit to hold it in place so it won't slip out. But yeah. All good for now!

If anyone needs any help with this, just message me.
