Thanks.

I figure I can blow up 2-3 cheap kits before its worthwhile buying an expensive one.. and thats assuming I get no warranty each time. :)

Here are some of the different Headlight Replacement bulbs available in the market that mimic a HID Xenon Discharge Kit.

Plasma Glow Xenon bulbs
Xenon Fusion bulbs
Super Plasma bulbs
Xenon Crystal Blue, White, bulbs
Xenon Super Plasma bulbs
Hyper Xenon bulbs.
Hyper Plasma bulbs….
And a few more.

This is the cheaper version for those who don’t want to or can’t buy a HID Xenon Kit.

All of these bulbs are direct replacements for your stock bulbs.
These bulbs are designed to work with your stock wiring with no additional upgrades are necessary.
They are designed to increase performance without an increase in power draw or heat. That is if you keep the same Wattage (Or Temperature in K) as recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle.
This is specially vital in case of all the new headlight assys that are made of plastic and have a vacuum chromed reflectors
However, it is a well known fact that real Xenon filled bulbs create much less heat than their Halogen grand fathers.

Majority of these HID Replacement Bulbs use the power of Xenon gas to give the car a unique look. Available in several “whiteâ€￾ colours. (Blue, White, Purple, …..)
BUT, they are also available in other colours, such as Gold, Silver, Green etc. to match the paintwork.
Not only do they provide high performance Xenon light look a like, but when viewed at an angle, some of them like the Plasma Glow Xenon bulbs produce a coloured halo that is sure to turn heads!

Plasma Xenon Bulbs, use a mixture of Krypton and Xenon Gases and Simulate HID High Output Lights.

Recently a few of these bulbs with temperatures of up to 8000K were released in the market. Mainly for off-road and rally racing.
4300K is approximately your standard 55-60W halogen.
5000K is around 110W.(which is on the verge of getting illegal).
So as you can guess that these 8000Ks are totally illegal.

Since the pattern of a normal Halogen bulb is completely different from a Xenon bulb, when adjusting your headlights you need to lower the reflectors on both side as far as it can be done and on the drivers side you need to point it much more towards left than usual setup with your standard halogen bulbs.
Or you will have many irate on coming drivers on the road.

So, choose carefully and be courteous to on coming traffic.

Have fun,
Mavs19

The idea with Xenon light system is to achieve, as close as possible, daylight from your driving lights (low beam).
A 6000K bulb will be more than sufficient to achieve a hyper white, which is very close to daylight, from any headlight. On any make and model.
From 7500K and on, you would definitely be getting on the illegal side and you will also start getting a bluish colour and as you get to 10000K and above it will turn to purple which in both cases, maybe, it may look good but it is no longer white.

Have fun,
Mavs19

I run Blue Vision (which according to the display in autobarn is the last leagal one) and found them to be a worthwhile upgrade over standard halogen bulbs. They're rated to 4500K, and do produce a noticebly whiter light, but nothing near what a 6000K HID will do.

One of these HID kits looks like a worthy upgrade when I have some spare cash.

I use those philips lamps in my car thus keeping all things legal...

I'm tempted to try a cheap set in my EF, but for some unknown reason I keep blowing regular headlights (I'm on my 3rd or 4th set this year :x ) so I don't want to blow a set of these.

How much did you pay for yours Brad ?
Where they just ebay cheapies ?
