Just a quick one.... Is it possible to put a zf 6 speed auto shifter knob on the 4 speed shifter in a ba bf? Purely for looks.

have you tried just swapping them over

unscrew and put new one on, worth a shot

It wont, unless you make a hybrid using parts from a 6spd and parts from a 4spd

Do you know what actually is different that stop the knobs being swapped? Is it just the mechanism for the button? Or it won't actually screw on.

Wont fit due to the BA being bigger in height, Tiptronic slides over more on the 4 speeds so the 6 speed plate and shifter wont fit either

Others have tried and failed.

took the words right out of my mouth.

when our Lease BF was due to go to auction i took the 6 speed shifter off it and tried to fit it to the 4 speed. looks like it could be done. but not easily

Not even the actual knob/grip won't go on? I know the whole module will not go in.

at most you might be able to peel that rubber thing off the top and stick it to your shifter. but whats the point

Cool. Thanks for ya help. Was going to try and fit it to a ba shifter that's going in the ef. Have to use the ba shifter module coz the electrics have been sorted for it. Nevermind. Some useful info in here for others searching later on.

Yeah maybe. $240 or something new. The leather xr one prolly a better bet with some wood grain on it. Cheaper too.
