Hi All,

New to the forum. I'm struggling to find some good info on converting the floor shift to a column shift so I can turn the BA ute into a 3 seater. Is it just a matter on getting hold of a column shift column and getting a mechanic to swap them over? I realise I may need a mod plate.

Appreciate any help!

Hello,

This would be better if you do it with Mates helping. The parts and Labour wont be cheap. As a start I would get a service manual on a CD. ( $3 to $5 ) Read it and see what is different. The hand-brake is on the other side of the drivers seat for example. Seat and belt, column and linkages and hand-brake and cable are a start. Ring a wrecker and get a Job lot price on Parts, then an estimate on labour. It may be an easy swap, but it may not. I looked at some when I bought my Ute, it may be a better option to get a 3 seat BF. A newer Ute for similar cost as changing yours.

Edit, this link may help. post917333.html?hilit=3%20seat%20ute%20conversion#p917333

Thanks 96ELGli,

That points me in the right direction. I'd like to hold on to my BA if I can. Only done 140000km and is really good mechanically. Have to work out some costs.

Thanks again.
