Hey Guys,

No doubt already been answered, but couldn't find it with a search...

No doubt we know here that when you put LED's in your instrument cluster the dimming thing doesn't work properly anymore...

I saw somewhere on here once that there was a certain resistor you can solder into and EL instruments and it fixes this...

However is there a place for this resistor in the ED instruments? Anyone done this? And value resistor did you use?

Cheers,
Tim

Snipet from Tech Docu but its for EF/EL

"The Resistor you will require is a 1Watt, 47 Ohm Resistor.
The Colour Bands for this resistor are Yellow, Violet, Black, Gold (5% Tolerance, 4 Band type).
Or for a 5 Band 1% Tolerance type resistor , the colour bands would be Yellow, Violet, Black, Black, Brown.
Please note though, you will Require a 1Watt type Resistor, due to the currents required by the LCD Panels.
The following are Catalogue Numbers for the above resistors, from various Electronics stores.
Jaycar - Cat RR-2542 - 47R 1 Watt Carbon Film, 5% ($0.32 Pkt of 2)
d**k Smith - R-1662 - Resistor 1W CF 47 Ohm, $0.10ea"

Wouldn't have a clue if it would be the same for ED cluster.

Yeah was sure I'd read that in the past... and it evven showed where to solder it in...

Was just curious if anyone knew if it was possible for an ED...

If no one already knows I might sit down and trace out the circuits one day and have a look... thats if I ever want the dimming back that bad...

isnt the resister into the fairmont dash cluster to make the odometer lights work on a falcon. the fairmont doesnt need the resister for the odometer light to work. i have modded 4 or so dashes like this.

if u fit a ef el fairmont cluster into a ef el falcon they dont light up the lcd panel
