with the EF/EL door trims, that actual part you put your hand on to open the door from the inside, is that made from a plastic? or vinyl?

im using primer + a black satin paint (very low shine) for the rest of the plastics, would it be fine to use for the whole door trim?

I did exactly what you are describing.

I sanded the handles smooth, and then used plastic primer. Then I used the cheap Satin Black paint. I put on six coats over several days, as I wanted to ensure the paint would not wear due to the high usage the handles get.

They lasted well, until I scored some chrome handles.

As for the rest of the door trim, if it is vinyl you will need to die it using specific vinyl die.

Cheers
BenJ
