Thought i would post this up for anyone that has a broken shifter button on EF/EL auto especially the Ghia's as they cost a fortune to replace. All you need is a drill, small drill bit, countersinking bit, small countersunk self tapping screw and a foam earplug.

Awesome I think I might do that then try and resew the cover as I'd already pulled it off.
then again I gess I'm not gonna reuse it.

Anyway brilliant idea none the less.

Another way to fix it is install a T5, lol.

Kidding kidding, good work. Budget diy fixes FTW.

Its funny, I sold the old shifter from my Fairmont with a chrome button for $40. Everybody wanted it, now I see why. Nice little tutorial.

haha yeah, and also have a look what they're going for on ebay.

Hell I just picked up a ba/bf leather shifter for 30 down the wreckers.

But seriously I say it should be put in the tech doc resources like the headlight one etc.

I tried to find your original post on this from long ago - no hope, not even with Google advanced.
You did post this a while ago IIRC ???
