Now I see why there's professional out there that'll do things in return for money - it's to prevent motherly stress.

Here is my version of data_mine's excellent dash mod
As the others have said, that looks bloody awesome mate, well done!
I like the design, is it something you made from scratch or did you modify it from something you found elsewhere ?

Did you cut out any sections in your mask ? In data mine's I think he had just the ford logo and the speedo markings etc but yours seems fairly well lit all over the face of it. Was that because you oiled it ?
I tried a similar trick on a previous project, but I used some of my GF's clear nail polish (that was on crappy plain paper though)

How are you buying this good paper ? I've only seen it in packs of 50 odd sheets which is a bit much for a project like this...

I'm planning to do this sort of dash mod when I have my cluster out shortly, but I was going to try using UV LEDs as well to supplement the often dim backlighting that results from fitting LEDs. Most of this you beut whiter than white paper flouresses really well under UV light, so I'm going to fit a few UV leds in the top of the cluster like spot lights that will shine down on the dials. It should be largely invisible but the white markings will glow brilliantly 8-)

Hey - does anyone else out there have "sample" bitmap images of custom dashes?? i.e. template or something?

We have a new colour laser at work :) What kind of resolution are we looking at for this to be worthwhile??

See datamine's doco 2 posts back :)

On that topic, does anyone know if those templates will fit the lower series cluster (ie with just the fuel and temp gauge) ?
I guess they should as it's just the oil pressure and voltage gauges that are missing, but it's worth checking before I go basing it off a higher series template when I only have the lower series...

Yes they do, I've only got a low series cluster.

There's some PNG and JPG versions there, but they haven't been cleaned up or 'template-ized'.

That reminds me, I got sent some scans of an EA digital cluster setup. I'll make them available later.
