I was thinking today about prices of lpg as ive been using it for 5 yrs and thought man i used fill up for $25.00 for a full tank and now it's double.................

I dug a little and found a prices chart which shows prices since Jan 2006

http://www.whatgas.com/lpg-graph.aspx

Here is a link to interesting facts

http://lpgaustralia.com.au/index.php?op ... &Itemid=62

All i know is were getting ripped off at the pump and this lpg conversion rebate system is putting extra taxes on it and increasing prices over time. The government get's all the money back they have given us and some more.....................

It's total crap and they should take off the rebate and slam the prices down to where they used to be and not be greedy pigs and take our money. Before rebate u could get a impco system installed for under $1500.00 now it's at least $2300.00 and all these guys making money from it. I think that the installer didnt get much cut out of it and only the distributor got most of it.

I agree that LPG prices going up is total bullsh!t - but they DID say that when the rebate came in that prices would go up , and by 2013 or something they would have climbed a further 22% from current levels...i.e. after what we are currently calling inflated prices ... I remember reading somewhere a guy saying that if LPG prices are more than 1/2 of petrol prices, and given that LPG has a lower BTU rating than petrol, that at that point it becomes more economical to just run on petrol...so as we speak I just put $20 LPG in at 63.9c (although another servo near here is 69.9) so if petrol's, say, $1.20 - 1.30 a litre you may as well run on petrol. I currently have LPG only but if its going up another 22% I might need to re-think that...

Exactly and ppl need to keep track of consuption figures as different lpg systems drink more than other's and mine drink's and extra 25%, so its actually costing 0.79cent per litre which is still cheaper now.

The whole point is the government is getting all there money back plus more on this rebate which is crap, hence why i said drop the rebate and back to original prices of lpg and conversion cost's as it works's out better.

Drop the rebate and get lpg back down to 0.40 cent's per litre instead of all this sneaky crap in the background

Around here if petrol goes up LPG soon follows, it usually stay just under the 50% mark.

The best way to work out the economy of it is to just work out the costs to travel 100ks

LPG 12lt/100 @ 60c = $7.2

Petrol 8.5lt/100 @ 1.30 = $11.05

we are currently paying 76c LPG and $1.37 petrol. it's still cheaper to run LPG even with an old mixer ring system.

As for cost of install. the kit costs more then $1500. If you think wholesalers are ever going to drop the prices you're kidding yourself.
Priced an injection kit for a hilux V6 today. retail price of $3500 PLUS installation

If mixer ring/impco style kits drop under $400 retail price for the kit you might see the drive in drive out price drop below $2000 again, but don't hold your breath.
Even then anything built 2004 or newer can't use those kits anyway.

I think that soon with the price of LPG going up 10 cents in one hit it will change the way we think of LPG if you compare the distance you get out of LPG compared to Petrol I get around 350 K'S on LPG and around 600 plus on Petrol yes i pay less for LPG but with the increase coming it may be just as cheap to fill up on Petrol for the mileage?.

Rebate has been going for years but once it came in the installers put their prices up but i think that industry will slow down once they bump the LPG prices up

Most people dont relise that depending on there system it drinks more than petrol and thats a vast majority so it wont effect it that much.

The kits cost more now then you used to pay for a drive in drive out job.

Remember years ago people used to charge $65/h and kits cost half what they do now.
These days people charge up to $120/h and kits cost $2000+
The biggest killer is the cost of steel. The tank is the most expancive part of the kit.

Hopefully when sales drop off the wholesalers will drop the prices of the gear and install prices will come down.

I agree steel has gone up in price but not $1000.00 but it's not likely it will drop as most ppl don't get, the extra consumption and just look at the price at the pump so it will only taper off abit.

Get rid of the rebate and scum bag taxes on LPG and get it down to 0.40 cents
