Calm down. I have supplied you with graffix for WADE and CRESCENT that are better than what you have done, and have offered to help with banners and graphics.

I ain't special - I am simply one of hundreds who want the blue.

Can you please explain, when you have time, why my 600 wide graffix are now being compressed so small that you can't even read the text?

post939767.html#p939767

These graffix were fine until you started automatically resizing images that were too wide... But 600 isn't too wide... Odd.

Anyway waggin - I was actually talking about MICROSOFT and APPLE WEBSITE - not some application or other. Here's some websites that use blue boxes for some ideas... http://www.visique.co.nz/ - Cheap and Easy
http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx
http://www.nzski.com/ - A little complex, but do-able.

I actually did the original nzski.com myself and it was pretty leading for its day (around 2000 give or take...)

Mate, I like the work you do and (once again) I appreciate the amount of work involved more than most people would.

If you're too proud to accept offers of help or take on board a whole raft of peoples dislike of the white then so be it.

Obviously you are FordMods, and us people who modify our Fords are merely web surfers whose opinions should just be rubbished.

Anyways Waggin, go have a beer, a shower, a smoke or what have you and take your mind off the Fordmods thing for a day or two and then come back to it.... Promise you that it'll do you the world of good and recharge your batteries for another assault on the mountain that is FM3.

Hey just an Idea (proably been asked before, if it has then . . err)

On FM V2 you had those tags in the for sale/Wanted section [SA] [QLD] [WA] ect, could you have a little drop down menu on the page that you can select the ONLY state that you want to see items from?

Thanks again, Keep up the good work! :)

There are a number of points I've made to Waggin that have simply been ignored. He's made up his mind that this is the best look for Fordmods, and ain't no one gonna change that, so help me god.

You obviously don't have to consult with the purchasers, end users or advertisers if you own a site yourself.

I wouldn't have considered myself to be winging, but if I re-read what I've written I guess that may become apparent.

Blah blah f'ing blah......

Yes, granted they all look fine. This time around Fordmods just simply isn't using a blue background. It's not because I'm not capable of making it blue, trust me :P Just an interesting note - all 3 of those websites use a fixed width design ;)

fiend wrote:

There have been many calls for help in the past, and no one has come forward. This site design wasn't actually done by me, but I did request that it was designed with a white background. So again, don't think that I'm not capable of producing a website which isn't white lol.

Or maybe we could say that Fordmods is a website to discuss your fords, not be obsessed with the colour of the background :)

something id like to see is changes to the for sale thread, these being
- threads deleted after 3 months of inactivity
- the seller being able to delete posts which are not in the best interst and/or not related to the sale, as some threads get clogged with rubbish
- maybe some sort of feedback system for sellers, similar to ebay.
only because ive successfully run 3 group buys and have sold over 50 items on here, and im at the same level as the person who sold 30 odd air intake tubes, and took 1 one year to deliver a product which was different to what he advertised, lots of people wanted him tracked down and torched.

i know it doesnt stop scams, but it gives the buyer some confidence knowing that people have successfully dealt with this person before...

The for sale/wanted section will get a big overhaul once I spend less time explaining why the background is white :)

Ok, I have an explanation for you - the image was something like 1400px high, so it was scaled to 720px high and the aspect ratio maintained. This is not by design, but I may not have a fix for it immediately.. so hang in there.

No, I dont think we'll be doing that. simply because as you said - you're getting used to it. Everyone will forget about the white background hoo-har in a week or 2 and love it. Except fiend, who will probably buy some blue cellophane to stick infront of his monitor :D

I'm not blindly following their design, however for the same reason as them I have chosen a white background as it is clean and easy to read. I'm still curious to know if you complain to these other websites daily?!

joshie007 wrote:
And another thing about those websites, they use more of the screen than Fordmods are.

Wrong, measure the width of facebook

What is the issue with having the blue anyway?

What's the issue with having white? Adjust your monitor, and get over it.

joshie007 wrote:
I mean it worked for how many years without complaints?

Exactly, time for change.

joshie007 wrote:
Its just a blue background how about a compromize?
make all the unused space left and right of the forum blue and leave the rest white?

No, no more blue backrounds. The site uses blue highlights - they wouldn't be visible on a blue background.

joshie007 wrote:
Give it a thought there is too much white, you know it!

This is your opinion, obviously we disagree here. Have you adjusted your monitor's brightness? A few people have complained and then later confessed that they adjusted their monitor to find that it's actually much easier to read than previously.

I think it's time to accept that its changed! The more time I have to reply to the same petty questions about the background colour, the less time I have to do constructive things for the site.

Look dude I aint trying to piss you off about it I personnaly liked the blue like others and suggersted an idea.

I still would like to know what you plan to do with the free space? Google Adsense maybe?

I had a look at facebook fair enough, but that is 1 site from 3 i mentiond.

Clearly i am not as cut up about it as some.

But i would like to ask if we can have the option to turn the sig off when you feel like it, or code the site to display the sig once on each page?

I know fiend already suggested this but I have been thinking about it and i dont think it is a bad idea.
