Hey all.
Planing a turbo kit, been putting this off for a while as i keep getting scared of doing it. Ppl keep telling me different s**t. So ive done my home work and i just want some info pumped into what im thinking just to make sure im on the rite track

So, im aiming for a STREETABLE EVERY DAY DRIVER 350rwhp
Its being run tho a T5 (which i know this is pushing the limits) but maby a trans cooler can help somewhat.

The plan is using a Snort stg 4 kit, minus the wastegate and turbo. As it wont work to well with out thess components i was looking at a Tiel (SP?) wastegate(45mm) and am pondering either a T04z(which ive been told would be overkill) or maby a GT35.

only thing that worries me about the manifold id how high it is mounted, but as chef has done, sheilded it, should be ok....rite?

Turbo selection im still not 100% on as yet, as im trying to keep this cheep, reliable and low lag it has to be a good choice form the start.
I dont want something over kill as i wont be hunting for much more power after what im aiming for now as it gets real expensive upgrading box/diff/everything else.

ATM im runnig a 2.5 zorst, trying to keep this if possible, but can be upgraded if need be.

For the bottom end, i was thinking of a rebuild kit as my rings are fairly rooted atm, sad but true :( . ACL, i hear good and bad things :?
what about BA XRt pistons?
any other pistons recomended?
I will probably mill some of the pistons top off to obtain a lower compression. My head has been tidied up and ported slightly, mainly the exhaust ports.
I will prob use a metal AU head gasket to keep the air in.

Looking at running no more the 12 psi (prob more like 9)

Any other ideas or input?

This side of the bay looks nice and full, i wanna fill the other side :D

Get in touch with 6BOOST on the calaisturbo forums. He will do you a really good custom manifold, tial gate and Gt3540 for $3300.

Lag will be a non issue. He had a 600hp turbo EA a few years back and has just started up his business. I have bought a manifold, 700hp GT3540, gate, custom plenum, fuel injectors, pump, custom fuel rail off him, they are due to be here this week as soon as I transfer the cash.

They are similar. I think the kits for $3300 come with just the manifold, gate, turbo and all gaskets and bolts. But its using a tial gate and Garrett GT3540. A kit with a garrett roller from Geoff was going to be around $4000 when I emailed a few weeks ago. So the prices are similar.

You will need lines and a dump pipe to make it the same as a snort kit I think. He can supply both for you. He can supply you with everything you need.

He has heaps and heaps of experience with high horsepower applications and knows his stuff inside out.

Yeah, the 6boost kit is the goods, no cheap imitation gear. Tial w'gates all all the rage now, Ive had no dramas with mine, 38mm and is doing a good job.
I like the snort manifolds though, very good workmanship from the pics Ive seen, and the kits come with oil lines which can be a pain to source on your own.
Out of the GT turbos, GT40 would be my pick.

I cant see you wanting a low power set up as your aready getting close to the base wkw level of most turbo setups, go for 300wkws :D

Lag... thats for small motors mate

i think its more the tourque from turbos which make them get up n boogie

and apart form that im not interested in upgrading my g/box.

Basicaly if i had 350rwhp, that would be an absolute street weapon imo.

Yeah for a few hundred more than the ACL's you can get some serious pistons to cope with LOTS of boost... room for growth and all that bollocks

by the sounds of it snort sound cheeper

Do you think i could get away with a internal waste gte?

Snort stg 3 minus w/gate and turbo. throw on a GT35, tiel W/Gate(if needed), and everything else that comes with the kit
injectors/fuel pump and pipe work and im set

rite???

for low boost an internal will be fine, do some research into what the XR6T guys do in regards to the internal gates. But yeah, for what you want it'll be fine
