For the time and effort involved to change the cam in the 302, you'd be best off looking at an aftermarket job.. there just wont be sufficient gains to justify the time/effort/money required to change to the AUI XR8 cam.

if my memory serves me right the EB cam was better than the AU cam. the AU engine just had better heads and induction.

do a net serch on HO vs EXPLORER cam specs

i tihnk the au cam is a more conservative cam than the eb... thats how the au 175kw engine gets better economy and more peak power..

im pretty sure thats the case anyway.

i think that came more from the improved flow of the heads, manifold & throttle body...

If the engine was dirrect from Explorer then the AU cam will be smaller/ tammer than E.B cam..Unless you are talking XR motors?? The Tickfords did have different cams...

One from T series latter model..But as said you'd be better off talking to guys like Mick Webb or manufacterer's like Wade, Crane, Crow etc...A phone call to these guys will put you where you want to be.. Telling them what you have and how you want your engine to run...You can't have a 300 rwhp on a 5.o without some drivability issues down low...
