Hey guys

Wondering if i could get your opinions on this EB i'm thinking of purchasing

Ok, Its an EB 5.0litre stroked to 5.6litres, Edlebrock heads and manifold, 70mm throttle body, balanced and blueprinted, crow cam( .050 duration in 222 ex 222 LIC 115, .510 lift), 1.7 crane roller rockers, Link ECU, petro-ject injectors, Stainless steel exhaust (pacies and cold air intake etc.), 5 speed manual and LSD diff (3.23 ratio). Engine has done 50,000ks

The car has been tuned and dynoed at 203rwkw, my question is, is this figure abit low for what has been done to the car?

I would say yes it is a bit low.

I've got a 5.0 litre tuned running pretty mucha stock AU 220kw engine with an EL XR8 ignition system. Its got under drives and match porting of manifold and heads.

I made 196rwkw with that. Oh yeah its a manual too. With after market heads and manifold and 5.6 you should be making more than that.

What could be holding it back?

Two things I can think of are

The parts don't match each other. By that I mean not suitable for the 5.6 litre. I'm not one to know for sure but if you post up your heads and manifold specs I'm sure the 5 - 5.6litre specialists will know if its correct or not. I managed to match my parts well for my combination and I got the best out of them.

2nd thing is maybe the tuner was tuning conservatively or for a lower octane fuel or possibly they are not the best tuner and someone else will be able to tune it better.

I used the Capa Switch Chip Eliminator for tuning and it was done by BPT Motorsports. They did an excellent job on my tuning.

Have a read of this thread by S-Tranzor about his 347 build. http://www.fordmods.com/forums/347-xr8- ... 62311.html

Interesting read.. Thanks for that Timmeh

I dont have the specs of the heads and manfiold, i just know there brand, Edlebrock. I would have thought that they would have been sufficient for a 347.

I was thinking it might be the tune as well. Do you think that the cam is alittle small as well?

Not sure about the cam. I'm not all that technical. The little I do know is from the people on these forums.

Sorry I didn't read your first post correctly your looking at buying the modded car I thought it was yours already.

See if you can get the part number of the heads and manifold and someone here should be able to advise you on whether they are suitable for this combo. If they are then the tune would be the only consideration. S-Tranzor got 230rwkw+ on his so I'd use that as a benchmark as what can be achieved.

Seems the 347s dont move as much as they should, Ive driven a few TE`s and Pursuit AU utes, you know the ones with the `Stang manifold etc and I reckon the 5 litres are a much sweeter engine, specially in AU guise I`d stick with a 5litre the 347s just arent worth the $. If Ford cant make em go and be reasonably driveable then personally I reckon theyre a dog..seems the bloke selling does too...

I test drove the car and it goes alright, i just thought that for the work that has been done to it, it should have abit more than 200rwkw.

Do others think it might be the tune?

I'd say get the car. You can get some money back on the parts that don't suit the combo if your wanting it to have more power. Otherwise it might just be the tune and then your laughing.

How much is the car?

Sounds like a good deal to me.

You don't know what size the injectors are do you?

I think they'd need to be 24lbs or above.

Does it still have the stock MAF or is that upgraded too? Stock MAF would be way to small for that combo and could be a reason why the power is low. Also what throttle body is on it? Edlebrock one or the stock jobbie? If it has stock TB and MAF then that will explain the low power.

not too sure on the size of the injectors, however i do know that they arent the stock 19lbs. Brand name of the injectors is petro-ject. Think its an Edlebrock throttle body, and i definitely know that the size is 70mm. Not to sure about the MAF actually, will have to look into that one.

I do plan to give it a Maffless Tune when i pick it up next week though, unless thats a bad idea?

Wouldnt bother with a mafless tune, just cost you to much money for no real gains unless you have a complete aftremarket computer runnning in the car.

Make sure you get the car checked out first. Sounds fairly cheap for a stroker imo, the stroker engine would cost more then the asking price of $6000. Something may just be covered up and there could seriousley be something wrong with it which is going to cost you mosney to fix.

Thanks for that EB-5LTR. I checked out the car twice, once with my uncle who has alot of experience with fords and once with my mate who works at a performance shop (JMM) and both said it was alright. Although my mate did say that although the car went alright something felt like it was holding it back.
