hi people
bought my self one of those tickord throttle bodies (70mm) but i realised that it didnt have enough room for the egr so i pull it out for the moment and blocked off allthe hoses, does it matter because my car is runnning fine with the new throttle do i need the egr

For emissions yes it does make a difference. But a lot will argue that it increases engine life with the egr disconnected. What mods have you done. I would have recommended a 65mm throttle body for a 5L. I think from memory with calculations a 65 will support up to 350hp. Some people have made more power by going down to a 65 from a 70. Doesn't matter anyway as the egr spacer for a 65mm throttle is bigger as well and you would have done the same thing. Your original egr spacer probably wasn't working anyway which is typical with age. I think it is code 34 or 35 if someone wants to correct me. I would recommend getting the proper sized egr spacer, they make them for a reason. I know BBK make them as well as Ford Racing. Lots of other brands as well.

so you think its too big ive got the big maf, extractors, explorer and gt40p ported heads on the way, the only problem with the throttle body is that it is very long and doesnt have any room for the egr, because its off the au tickford, so i might have to buy another throttle and a big egr spacer,

one more question what does the egr do for pollution, it has coolant running through it and a valve that open a gate to no where ? im confused

I'd leave the EGR off with the new throttle body. It won't fit.

If you want to keep it then down size to a 65mm TB.

I'm still running a 58mm TB and EGR with my GT40P heads. I'm trying to get hold of a 70mm Tickford one or a 65mm AU V8 one.
Either of those will do me.

I've also heard that 65mm TB and EGR is the sweet spot. 70mm and bigger is for engines with heaps of hp.

Well if your inclined to sell it I'll take it off your hands.
I'm in desperate need of a larger TB. As s-tranzor said mine doesn't like to come off idle. It splutters then takes off. You can hear the air rushing through the TB its that small.

I can swap an AU 6mm TB with spacer (no provision for EGR though), plus some cash for your 70mm Tickford throttle body.

PM me if your interested.

I would look at getting the 65mm throttle body for your combo. In regards to the question about what the EGR does I'll try and explain. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. What it does is allow some of the exhaust gases in to the intake to reduce NOx emmissions in your exhaust. Now is the tricky bit as its been a while since I learnt about it. From memory it decreases the temperature created from the combustion process which in turn decreases the NOx created. Without trying to get to technical about it.
