Scat or Eagle seems to be the goods. Both have good reps and reasonable price.

Avoid any AT Racing parts off Ebay, and the Scat 9000 series cranks aren't the best either. Seeing as the standard block is on its limit at around 400-450hp, there isn't the need to spend mega $$$ on a 4340 forged crank/rod combo.

We generally use Eagle, and have not had any problems with it.

Yep, all roller 302 windsors.
The early non roller blocks are supposedly a bit stronger.

Ford say 450 fwhp... That includes some abuse... Such as drag racing...

Ford rate the Sportsman block at 450hp, we've found anything over 370-380rwhp on a standard block, even with a girdle, is getting into a gray area. Early signs of problems will be blowing head gaskets, as the block literally starts to distort and the deck faces twist.

Bottleup ive heared from engine builders that a good 5.0L roller block machined correctly will hold 500fwhp with girdles no worries

and that I beam eagle rods and cast crank are good for 550hp

Is all this true?
