BA-BF bonnet cables had lots of trouble and it isn't the ONLY thing that can break, the Fuse box that the Cable is located on can also break on these cars. The Bonnet Cable is BAF 16A665A $33.00 and the Fuse Box is BA 14A073A $103.50. They were a huge problem and you might also want to look at the Bonnet Lock to see if it is ok. Bonnet Lock BA 16700A $51.50.

These Bonnet Cables are the 3rd mod Ford has done to them.

ok cheers for that. so the handle and cable is 1 piece.

Yes like AU, they are all one piece. Bad design the way they added the cable to the car on BA/BF.
Funny thing is they have no problems with the SAME cable on the Territory?

I think Ford didn't put it in the right place in BA/BF and that is what cause a lot of headaches. They had a HUGE amount of Bonnet Lock problems in the early days too. Seems they fixed it about 2 years ago, right at the end of the model. :D

The Valve stem seals are EA 6571A and cost $6.50 each, I am sure that you will be able to get these from Repco or someone like them for a lot less.

Just be careful if you do get them after market, the last run of the EL's had different ones, they use the AU type.

Hello again Mr Smurf...

I've another one for you..... I need to fix my steering top uni thingy...

Image

The bell bottom bit goes on the steering rack.. I need the uni fixed or replaced at the other end. (it goes onto the steering shaft at the firewall to the intermediate shaft...)

I thought I'd just pull the one out of my spare EL and put it into my beast.. but the spare was almost as bad as mine... considering how little load these have on them I'm surprised they die like this. (power steering is doing 95% of the work)

Anyway, I had to cut the main steering shaft to get that off the firewall without pulling the dash out...

So, after all that, is there a kit I can rebuild it with or do I just buy a new one?
I don't see a part number on it though.... can you help mr Smurf sir?

Thanks for hooking us up with the O ring and clamp George.
Chucked it in this morning and no leaks as of yet..............
Actually has a full tank of fuel in it now for a change!
Can I still get EL GT extractors through Ford? I think the price will be a killer though..........

Are the door trim lights between EF/L, AU, and BA different? I want a set. What sort of $$ am I looking at? Nobody wants to sell them secondhand.

Thanks Papa Smurf.

Mr Papa Smurf..

Can you tell me if the part numbers for ball joints changed at any time in the EL models?

These joints I'm looking at say they suit EA-EL 88- 10/96 what would have changed in ball joints in 10/96????

You can buy the Chrome inner handles but they only come in Cappuccino surrounds. $90.00 each
The Woodgrain mould for the dash is obsolete, the Surround for the centre console is available in Grey and Cappuccino but, the cost $493.00. The Chrome shifter shaft is obsolete.

Thanks Papa Smurf.

All EF/EL door trims are obsolete and the AU/BA style door trims will not fit the EA-EL doors. One of the members on here manage to make them fit but I doubt you would want to go to the trouble he went to

Also, there is a guy on the Forum who has a set of EF/EL fairmont ghias, maybe he would be a good person to ask? His handle is Lay3Dlow.
