G'day all need a lil im not sure on whats true or not ive been told that the later e series xr diffs can be fitted into EA straight onto the standard ea 5 speed is this true or?? and if not then what type LSD should i be going for?

Hi.

Yes you can fit an EB - EL XR diff in.

No, it is not a straight swap.

The EA has narrower mounts for the control arms.

The fix is to make a spacer of some sort to be put either side of the EA control arms in the later model diff braket.

Also EF-EL uses different brakes and hand brake arrangements. It is not hard to mod the handbrake cables to work with the EA setup, and you would need to mount the metal diff brake pipes on an EF-EL diff too.

You would also need a tailshaft from a later car to match the flat flange on the pinion of the later diffs.
