well i dont really want to hack up my uprights with an angle grinder to get bigger rotors on there so im guessing this would be best done at an engineers workshop, but does anyone know a rough guide of what cost i would be looking at to get the silly little bit that sticks out to support the brake pad machined off?
im just after a ball park figure so i know roughly what to expect when i go and get someone to look at it.

If it were that simple, there would be a stack of info on how to do it, and we would all be out there with our angle grinders.

Not only does the upright need modifying, custom hubs and bearing combo needs to be designed and fabricated, hence the $1500 base price tag of the current brake kits available.

There is one chap I know of who has some hybrid EB-AU lower control arms machined up, at a cost of a couple of grand, and is arranging a group buy for $1100 a pair, but not yet for EF-EL.

Cheers

Custom hubs are not required with ELGT discs.

I am interested in this thread :)

True, but they are not exactly easy to get, neither are the calipers to suit.

I don't mean to be a PITA, but they are a DBA part and are easy to get:

https://www.americanautos.com.au/cgi-bi ... 3229263726

$175.

Any calliper can be used with appropriate bracketry. There are 100 threads around on this, the info is all there.

Interesting.

The question is then, why aren't we all running the EL GT rotors already?

Because modifying the upright and making a caliper bracket isn't that easy :)

If someone did them for a reasonable price (i.e. less than $1000, part of the $2500 the kits cost) it would be the most viable option for people wanting to maintain e-series offset.

Would the AU11 front calipers work with the EL GT disc?

hmmmmmm

Got some thinking to do then.

Cheers

i can get hold of the calipers and rotors easy enough.
i know there are a few threads around the place about this but i have read them and could not find any info on what i was asking, guess i will just have to go and visit an engineer or a machine shop and see how much it is going to cost me, well that is if they are willing to even do it.
thanks guys

This is what Race Brakes Sydney sells in their kit. PBR C5 calipers with ELGT rotors.

This is what Race Brakes Sydney sells in their kit. PBR C5 calipers with ELGT rotors.

AUII/III premo is a C4 caliper, what the original Cebco kit which is now being sold by Race Brakes Melbourne uses. also the same as EL GT and VN Group A. aaand obviously C4 corvettes ;)
C4 is a more compact caliper, the C5 has more pad surface area.

as for the actual machining work, from what i've seen from having a look at modified stub axles, machine off the pad ears, and also where the caliper mount bolts through, on the back of the stub axle, some flat pads need to be machined so a caliper dog bone (to fit the different mounting points of the new calipers, bolt holes are closer together) fits.
