Could somebody please explain to me how the V8 shift kit diagram works? (All_TCM.pdf from www.mechanicalforums.com)
It appears to me as if Pin 29's 20 ohm resistor joins up *in series* with Pin 7's 1 ohm resistor when the switch is on! (wtf?) When the switch is off, it appears that Pin 7's resistor is bypassed, and Pin 29 is left open... I attempted this on the weekend but gave up

has anybody tryed this $115 for a fully adjustable shift kit which can be turned off and on when u like???????????????????

hey guys i see all of you guys are doing this mod and i am really thinking of doing it but is it goin to cause damage on the gearbox in time or will it have no effect at all?

yer but there is the cheaper mods to be done that suit the earlyer vehicals

I finally got my a** down to jaycar to make myself one of these little beauties! Who'd have thought a $5 mod would be so cool? Took all of 30 minutes to do.
Don't really notice much difference at low revs, but certainly a kick in the back when changing at high revs, or dropping back a gear at high revs! It's a totally new beast to drive 
Highly recommended to anyone who isnt afraid of cutting a couple of ECU wires

are there any differences in making one of these for an AUII Forte? Will I still need the same pieces, etc? If so, I think I know what I'll be doing tomorrow

AU is the same as EF, they both share the same 104pin EEC connector. 81 is the S5 line (the 5.6ohm resistor) 71 is the S5 current "check" line (the 18ohm resistor) If you are asking how to get to these wires? Get to the ECU and harness (passenger side kick panel). Remove the wiring harness from the ECU, if you look carefully at the plug, the end of each row of pins is numbered. Count back to the pin you are looking for. I suggest doing this 3 or 4 times to make sure you have the right one!! I assume you've got the diagrams from mechanical forums?

yeah hehe avatar is cool (even if I do say so myself), I saw it on another forum and "borrowed" it from someone else
thanks for the info... I'm fine with pulling the ECU apart (done it many times before on other cars) just that I don't have a pin diagram for the AU so I wasn't sure which pin was what... Thanks for the info, should be an easy install

Hey really wanna attempt this mod. BTW was about to pay for it, when i saw this thread. Just a small question will this mod work on my 88 DA LTD, with the gay 3 speed trans?

Hey Neds, It has been over 6 months now, is your home made shift kit still going strong?
Has it made any adverse impacts on your drive train? I want to do mine but I have never played with electrics/soldering iron so my first experience is not going to be my car's ECU wiring...anybody in Perth willing to install one of these for me? You will need a soldering iron, but I will buy you a nice lunch/sixpack in return.
