Hi guys

My brakes have been squealing (excessively) of late, so I bought new pads today. Anyway took one of the front wheels off and turns out the pads are fine. Checked the back and same story, the pads are fine with only a small amount of wear.

So just wondering why would they be squealing so much? Could this occur because we're in a drought there's been no real opportunity for any moisture to get in there? I pulled into a servo the other day where a police officer was standing there filling up, and when he heard me pull up I thought he was going to give me a canary LOL. The look of pain on his face due to my brakes reminded me of someone at a dentists office LOL.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Cheers,
Anthony

The rotors are also looking ok, little bit of markings but still ok. Do you think that it could perhaps be that? Still has a few thousand km's left in them though in my opinion.

The Squealing is caused by the brake pads moving when braking.
Wot happens is gas from the brake pads get trapped between the pads & the Rotor when braking causing the pads to shimmer.
Easy fix is to use anti brake squeal its a spray that you spray onto the back of your pads.

That doesn't always work.My mechanic did that and my car still has the same problem.

Sounds like your discs are glazed, need machining.

you could also try delglazing the handbrake shoes as they were very prone to glazing up and causing loud squealing while driving, remove sand em' back with some emery tape then just a small dob of good quaility copper grease will help them rebed in that should help ya out
