Have you checked your gear oil level?

If its not oil, it could just be normal wear and tear. My gearbox isn't exactly "highkay" but it has a fair whine, and with hard acceleration it sounds like a touring car.

Check your oil level, if its not that, its probably tired bearings.

Oil as suggested is about the only thing you can check yourself.
Mine had a bit of a whine and a top up fixed it 90%.

If its 'bad' do yourself a favor, throw a bearing kit through it.

Whine usually come from worn bearings, then... with the worn bearings comes movement, with movement comes bad mesh, bad mesh = worn gears and weakness.

new oil, drive considerately lighter.

oh ok...hmm sounds like i might be that to cause you can only hear it when you accelerate..? Im not that mechanically minded but when you say pullys do you mean like the belts?
