Here is a little info for you (not the same car, but the same motor)

My brother has an R31 Skyline GTS (standard with headwork cam extractors exhaust etc...) 140kw factory, manual.

We have taken them down to the drags and the GTS gets well and truely beaten by my STOCK EF Ghia with the XR6 motor, but he can beat a standard EF/EL just not the Tickford motor equipped ones.

So, with that, the VL which has over 20kw less then the GTS will not keep up if it is standard to a Standard EF/EL so has no chance in hell against a stock XR motor let alone one sporting a cam.

I had a standard manual VL wagon. Heavier than sedan. 0-100 in 8.5 secs. If your car is faster than that then you'll beat him!

s**t, you will waste him, my 1.6 Laser gave a VL wagon a good run for it's money not long ago, So i think your XR would cream him.

I dont think he will, mostly coz it wont happen.

best bet is to head down to calder, or heathcote, and go down the strip a few times. practice a bit incase he does turn up one day with the challenge.

my bet is he wont though. probably did the same thing you did. asked his mates who will win, and he got told he would get flogged.

Why is there so much talk? Just go out for a drive with him. Bragging rights is all you need. He's obviously put fear into you. If you can't afford to risk a tank of petrol (straight unleaded?) then hit him up for bragging rights. Give him a chance to show up a young fella, otherwise don't talk s**t if he can't back it up. I tell you now, if someone I work with wanted a run... where are my keys?!

you'll flog it, and like what's been said - if i was told my car would get flogged i'd line up a race asap.
my mate who just started working for us again said to me that he can beat my 1.8L hyundai lantra in his 3.2L rodeo, after i was telling him a story about it and how well it goes for a s**t korean car.
guess what? that afternoon we had a rolling start coming onto a main road near mine, and i beat him by over a car length up to 100km/h.

he hasnt said a word about it since 8-)

EL XR6 for sure!. SVD115, the R31 GTS manual should smoke an EF ghia all day long. Either the guy cant drive or the car is f**k. I have an EL ghia with the tickky engine(auto) but with usual mods and i dragged one of the earlier less powerful white ones and he was faster so i cant see a red one being slower. I have had heaps of runs against commos etc and have beat them so i know my car goes well.

this thread is LOL,

A few years ago my bro had an eb xr6 5spd, had extractors, full exhaust no cat and cai.
Had a few drags with manual vl turbos and used 2 just knock them off, had a race with 1 that was runnin few more psi, exhaust and big front mount and was dead even.

so no doubt if he is stock your car will eat it. VL manuals are puss as unless turbo and they go ok.

Another car we had was 1 of the older skylines with the 3L and a 5spd, my dad had an el falcon 4L auto and the falcon could just knock it off but at this stage the falcon was only a year or 2 old,was a 98 EL.

didn't understand what you said just there but yea, an EB xr6 do around 7 secs flat 0-100, and a low 15 quarter stock, so they are a lot quicker than a stock EF falcon.
