umm r34 gtr front cut is roughly 7k from what i remember (might be wrong)
includes engine gearbox and brakes

the rb26dett is the best nissan engine.
also maybe a sr20det (not too great for a falcon i wouldnt think unless its got mods)
sr20det comes from a s13-s15 silvia 180sx or gtir

the engines are nearly identical arent they?
apart from the age theres no difference.

i spose the cheaper the better as long as its in tip top condition

What about kms/condition. Dont forget that half the R32 GTR's in japan are drifted or raced and flogged to the s**t. Most of the $7k (cheap) front cuts would be engines from written off racers and stuff like that and will be very tired. You could possibly end up spending another $3-4k just getting it to 'as used' condition so it'd be suitable for the power it'd need to make it worth it the conversion.

Go to NZ, you can get whole car for that price......

Saying they are all used for drifting is like saying all XR8's have been raced around Bathurst...
Its the rego and Tax that makes them too expensive to keep...
There is no tax on a new car how ever...It's designed to keep new cars moving and keep there auto industry going...

Do up a E series sohc 4.0 Ford motor with turbo and you'll be pulling 11's easy..Then drive it to work.. No worries...GT3040 turbo etc...Hardly any internal mods are needed if engine is in good nick and has around 8.8 compression...

I didn't say all, I said half :P I was being a little general with that statement, but for $7k I wouldn't touch a genuine R32 GTR. I've been told a number of stories about imported 89 model GTR's from workshops here and people having to spend $$$ on repairing and replacing the engines...and thats the $15-18k ones direct from japan.

But yes, as with most here in dleach's various posts on the forums, I reckon go ahead and turbo the EL engine thats in it.....much cheaper, maybe not as unique, but better suited to the Falc.

A friend of mine has an RB20 in his VL crapadore. It's a VERY strong engine. Apart from a 3inch exhaust its stock. But there is not much torque off boost. It tends to either bog down or fry the tyres - 17inch 235's with LSD and the VL is not that heavy. In the wet it's a real handfull!

Sounds fantastic though.

Have you been to NZ ???? It's just an old car over there, there's so many of them....One bad apple doesn't spoil the rest...I'v imported a performance Jap from N.Z...Top car...But like any second hand car ??

What ever turbo the Ford properly and get it tuned PROPERLY....
Turbo's and long stroke motors love each other...

BINGO....

forget about a jap engine transplant. Spent 7-10k on properly turboing an EL 4.0L and it will rip a new one in most imports. How does mid 11's sound on the stock engine and trans?? Oh and off boost it will drive to work like a stocker...

I don't see an EL doing mid 11s on a stock trans and bottom end. Not for bloody long anyway!!

Plus any Skyline much faster than this has transmission issues as well.....
