I'm looking for a straight answer out of someone who has tried these mufflers.

They are straight through, perforated & baffle/chamber-less mufflers.

I have on order (from a different seller,payment awaiting) two of these mufflers to go into a 2.25 system on my LTD.

Does anyone know what type of sound they produce? I'm looking for a nice deep v8 grumble, with a bit of aggression when using the pedal.

I have scoured youtube for all sorts of sound clips, but none have this specific muffler.

My system will be x-pipe to twin 2.25 and a single Magnaflow muffler on each side. Predictions on how this will sound?

Its more a smooth quite at idle cruise but sounds great at WOT sounding revy.
Wont give the crackle of old muscle cars.

I ran a 3" version on a TD Cortina I fitted a 351w into.
Im a big fan of them and they are worth every cent.
My cortina performed well beating my brothers 12.4 second XW on street.
even though it was stock on lpg only.

Were they the mufflers in the link?

I just don't want to spend all the money to find out it's not what I'm after.

Oh and btw, what is the benefits of stainless steel exhaust piping over mild steel?

Looks the same ecept mine was mild steel and 3".

Benefit of SS is it wont rust out like a mild steel exhaust and can be done to look better.

Disadvantage is it is more brittle and can crack if not supported properly.

I doubt you will not be happy with the Magnaflow as long as they are the genuine item and
you have chose the right setup to suit your engines flow requirement.

Another thing with SS it can sound a little tinnyer as it is useually thinner than mild steel
systems.

Funny you say that, i'm wondering if these are the genuine item. Is the perforated core meant to go all the way through or stop in the middle? Check out these pics.

It has this weird bit in the middle where the perforation is kind of "lifted" like a louver. Both the mufflers are like this.

Also i made a bit of a hasty decision buying them, as i should have bought 2.5" to future proof the car, in the next few years when i do heads/cam, it will need the 2.5" but i bought 2.25", and also, 99% of exhaust shops here can't do 2.25" stainless piping, only 2" or 2.5" and above.

The cores of these mufflers are 2.5" so i think i will keep the mufflers and cut the inlet pipe down as it reduces from 2.5-2.25 before the actual muffler. And i will sell the 2.25" tips and x-pipe to get the 2.5" units.

When I purchased mine I bought it all in one go
Had shop supply and fit custom extractors
Mandrel 3 inch with dumpy tip.
I never got to view the inside.
In seeing your pictures it makes me think
They may not be genuine as it does not make
Logic to have the baffle pipe like such.

Maybe ask a few exhaust shops if you can
View a magnaflow muffler as you are thinking
About purchasing one but just want to compare
It first.

If for some strange reason it is like that then just
Fit them as maybe there's something in the design.
However if they are clean all the way through either
Resell them or if you going to give them a try find
A pipe to slide through and knock lip down.

Not really relavent but I just recently put a 3" inlet to 4" outley Magnaflow dumpy on the family car ( Tj Fagna 3.5L), the rest of the pipework is stock and to tell you honestly it sounds f**k great, throttle response is alot better and they are genuinely made extremely well. As long as they are geni's go the Magnaflow all the way. Worth every penny........ the only problem will be the added fuel consuption from you having to dump the throttle to feel the exhaust note rumble through your back

Tried that, one problem, Magnaflow's official address sent me back a mail delivery error saying the address isn't valid. Typical.



They ceetainly look excellent, apart from the centre pipe, the rest of the muffler is beautiful, great welding and feel really solid. Good to hear from someone that they sound good! The only other source i have had feedback from is youtube, and it took me ages to find a clip that only had the standard 5.0 with x-pipe and Magnaflow mufflers.
