Get in touch with the Small Ford Car Club, they know heaps about their stuff and don't seem to be wankers either.

There is a book by David Vizard. Chase it down and read it. It was writen over 20 years ago, but even back then they were getting over 500hp out of them. Follow what's in the book and it'll make power and be strong.
The book covers every thing from the short block, to heads, to oiling mods, cam selection, turbo selection, nitrous. Some of the bottom end stuff is out dated as you can now by Spool rods in the YB cosworth length and pistons to suit, and turbo selection will be different as we aren't stuck with the type of turbos they had to use back then, but the rest of the book is still valid and well worth the read.

Also won't hurt to go to www.burtonpower.com and have a look though the escort sections.
You can also order a free paper full colour catalogue. Delivers in about 2 weeks.
