damage just posted an article on gen3 piston slapper v8's.
i just browsed the site and discovered that the 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engines have a rare case of it also.
could the 5.4L motors in the BA develop this, it would be interesting to know.

I was thinking that too... but i didn't know if it's the same engine... They say it's only engines built in canadia.... are our engines built in canadia?

Yes our V8's come from their. The name V8 "Windsor" is derived from the actual place Windsor, Ontario in Canada where they are made.

Is that where they make the boss? Thought they were assembled locally? Doubt if the windsors would be affected, not exactly a recent development....

AFAIK all/most modern piston engines have some slap at startup. Problem with these GM engines is the slap doesnt disappear once heat expansion is supposed to have reduced clearances.

BTW that thread was started in 1998. Ford did have some serious slap issues back then but unlike GM elected to replace engines and keep customers happy. I think chrysler had a similar issue.
