Yeah you will need to use the oil sender that came with the gauge. As different brands have different ohms. The stock ford one wont read right with your gauge.
Just get a t-piece they are available from most auto stores and aren't expensive.

Haven't had much to do with volt gauges mate. But I would presume you just need a positive and negative wire. I wouldn't use the cig lighter plug as the gauge of the wire is to small I would run a wire to the battery or run it from one of your ignition wires.
