Hey all,

My mums El Falcon GLI (manual converted) has the air bag light on. It flashes three times then stops then twice more which I assume is code 32 Airbag Circuit High Resistance, or Open Circuit it does that 5 times then the air bag light stays on completely. In the past (a month or so ago) it gave me two other codes which were 12 Low Battery Voltage and 23 Memory Clear Circuit Failure. But at the moment it only flashes 32. I have tried to clear the codes but have failed I've used multiple different wires, pins, clips you name it and made sure there were good connections.

I've been connecting the wire to top row 4th pin from the left to bottom row 1st pin from the left before I see the code, after the code displays and when the air bag light is constantly on for varying lengths of time. Now this is just an assumption but with the code 23 would that be preventing me to clear the code as nothing happens.

Also for a while it had a blown air bag light in the cluster as i had moved the bulb to another spot in the cluster so i could see my speed at night and it was beeping lots of 5 beeps at me but before the bulb was blown there was no beeps or codes. Don't know if that means anything.

Plus my mum scraped the front bar coming out of our driveway and the horn stopped working not sure if that was from that or coincidental as i didn't try to use the horn for a little while after that happening. Or the clock spring or something in the steering column is broken and causing the air bag light to appear and prevent the horn from working?

Also if possible could someone tell me the steps on how to clear the code in dummy terms just in case I'm not doing it correctly.

Thanks for any help in advance.

The dreaded 32.

You can go to JayCar and buy a circuit which will run for a few seconds and then turn off.

Wire this up to your ignition so that when you turn car on the airbag light will come on and then turn off for ever.

Or get a new airbag computer (drivers side, about twenty centimetres behind air vent if you pull it out... And then lie on the floor with your head on accelerator looking up.....)

New airbag computer might not fix it though. And you will find that it will beep a few times every half hour driving if EL.

And before people start telling you to SEARCH... Try post1312421.html?hilit=clearing%20codes#p1312421 (I found this by typing "clearing air bag codes" into the search)

But really, what you should look at is this....

post854233.html#p854233 (try it from the top)

Hi,

I would also suspect the clock spring. When you take the globe out it runs a buzzer to warn people that someone has removed the globe to hide a fault. My car had the cable fail, they dont last forever.

Unless you replace your air bag computer with a 94.95.96 EF module - they don't have a buzzer.
