The original Blue-oval prototype will be there to do tyre durability testing for Dunlop on the new 18-inch tyre set to be brought in next year, and marks the first time the new-generation of V8 Supercars hit the hallowed Mount Panorama circuit.

Stone Brothers Racing's Lee Holdsworth will be at the controls, and is down to drive the car on the Thursday of the meeting during the Dunlop V8 Supercar Series practice sessions, and it may also roll out during the fourth co-driver-only practice session for the main series.

The test will also be the last of V8 Supercars' in-house validation program on the new cars, after they were first unveiled at the Sydney Telstra 500 last year.

"There have been thousands of kilometres already completed in all facets of the Car of the Future prototype testing program," V8 Supercars Commission Chairman Mark Skaife told the official BigPond Sport V8 Supercars website. "This is the final sign-off of the entire process for the new cars for next year.

"The test at Bathurst is all about durability testing of our new specification Dunlop 18-inch tyre at the most demanding and fastest venue on the V8 Supercars Championship calendar."

With one of the original prototypes completes its final test, so far only three teams have had their own Cars of the Future hit the track for testing: Triple Eight Race Engineering, Ford Performance Racing, and the Holden Racing Team.
