I was putting new tie rod ends on my HX ute and when it was up on the ramps I found this part wedged loosely in the area under the battery.

It doesn't appear to have been attached to anything and has made no difference to the car that I can tell now it's laying in the garage.

Any idea what it is, where it should go and if it's even meant to be there?

All comments appreciated.

It's the duct that supplies airflow to the factory fitted battery box. Does yours still have the POS black plastic box the battery sits in?

Aha!, I'll have a look. I take it from your comment that it's a less than desirable part of the vehicle.

If it's there I take it that removing it is the go?

I suppose the weight saving will allow for the pies and beer to be consumed this weekend.

Cheers.

Maybe, depends if the battery gets too hot.

Heat kills batteries. If you have the OEM box, re-fit it.

Cool, pun firmly intended, I'll fit the duct back to the box then, thanks for the advice
