New to this forum. My first post.
2000MY 1.5 injected Festiva. The oil pressure warning light comes on intermittently.
Have checked all the obvious items: oil level is OK, oil is fresh and new filter fitted. Light flickers on & off under all conditions even idling when stationary. Turn it off wait 30 seconds, restart light goes out. The engine does not exhibit any bottom end noises or death rattles associated with low oil pressure.
Is there any history of oil pump failures or oil pump drive problems with these Ford/Kia/Mazda engines?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Gary

I had an older one 90 model was doing the same thing because of the fule pump because oil was getting petty. But I think they changed the fule pump set up because of this problem

Knighty99,
Thanks for the reply. This one is 1.5 injected with no mechanical pump on the cylinder block. Mine has a blanking plate where this was fitted to the carb models. Split fuel pump diaphragms are always a good reason for oil dilution and increasing sump level.
Discussed this with one of our techs at work. He suggested that I try replacing the oil pressure switch. Call to Ford dealer and found that it is obsolete in the Ford system. Trip to Repco and came away with a generic pressure switch. After some contorted socket work finally replaced the oil pressure switch. Gazed up at the moon, invoked the mighty gods of oil pressure and bingo problem gone. Light and the oil pressure now work as designed.
Have been working on cars for 54 years and have never needed to replace an oil pressure switch.
I guess there is a first time for everything.
Good outcome, Gary

I was going to suggest oil pressure sender, its more common than you would care to think.
