Gday,

I need a clutch cable for my EB xr8 but they seem to be non-existent to by.

Anyone sourced one recently? I have been quoted $175 which I think is ridiculous (scratch made).

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

thanks Troy, I have heard varying remarks about whether AU cables will fit my EB, which is annoying.

Can anyone clarify this exactly?

Still pretty crazy dollars.

Going by where the cable has snapped, it could be that the clevis and swaging/blob has pulled off on the pedal side. I haven't pulled it all out for a good look yet.

Yeh apparently they come under the same code and nowhere has them so far.

If you know of any places that do have one, could you PM me the details? Would be most appreciated.

Cheers!

Okay so clutch cable purchased. Brand new for $135 from Bursons. Teflon coated by the looks, very nice product!

It is made by these people:

Not 100% sure, but I think they were the genuine supplier for various items.....and not just for Ford either, but Holden, Toyota and Mitsubishi ( when they were making cars here).
The washer bottle in the wifes Magna is made by Flexdrive.

Flexidrive Products are top quality, i went through a few cheap clutch cables in my old EL quite quickly then used a FDA cable and it held up to heaps of abuse.

Some say yes, some say no. I'm guessing the difference is where the outer shroud meets the gearbox - the mounting must look different but some can get it too work. I'm guessing here.

Either way, 6 dealerships all said there is non in stock anywhere in Australia for either AU or E series. This is a discontinued part apparently, and being how much of a SH*T design it is and over ten years since the last model to use it, parts have obviously dried up.

Bursons came through though, and they even lowered their initial quoted price and got it too me much sooner than they forecast. I've always admired and spoken well of Bursons, they are hands down the best spare parts store I've ever used.

Ford down here told me a month ago after checking their computer that all cables for e & a series were obsolete. I wanted one for my el. Maybe they just didnt want to help me out? Or perhaps some dealerships cant get them? I told her i was willing to pay whatever price but she still told me you cant get them from Ford anymore.. ended up going to a parts store and buying a flexi drive agencies one for $79, i have been told ford used the same mob for their supplies.. so im happy.
