Selcall is short for selective calling. Please forgive me if this info is outdated but its been a while since i was a CB nerd..*i mean* enthusiast.

So each selcall UHF has a unique ID. I think its a string of numbers. Each number relates to a different tone.

So you enter someone's number that you wanna call. Press the tx button on the mic and then hit selcall. It will transmit the series of tones which equates to the person you are calling.

Receiving UHF will hear tone transmitted and realise its 'his'. Receiving UHF tyhen sits there beeping so owner knows he/she has been selcalled.

Yeah - basically tone recognition from what i remember. Had a mock selcall happening for AM CB with a couple of nerds *i mean* firends. Sent out a specific tone and if the CB reconginsed it... etc. etc.

What do you plan to do to maccas drive-thru with UHF? Theyre on VHF and HF

Isn't it common knowledge that Maccas/KFC/Hungry Jacks headseats are on ~153mhz and the drivethru speaker boxes use 41mhz ?

definitely common knowledge.
now all we need is a radio to transmit on this frequencies.

And just so you can butt in on that frequency in your car and keep asking the poor old customer to repeat himself over and over? Or perhaps when he asks for a Big Mac, you ask him to confirm his order of 2 Kentucky dinner boxes? :)
