Distributors usually have a mark to show the number one firing position, the rotor should line up with this when the number one piston is at TDC(top dead centre).Grab a big shifter and with engine off and trans in neutral rotate the crankshaft pulley clockwise until no one piston is at top dead centre.Firing order is 1-3-4-2,so once you have established the number one firing position, just place the other leads on distributor cap in that order.
