Hey guys havint posted in ages,
My last major mod was installing a 200kw au2 xr8 motor into my el2 xr8.
It has had a J3 chip installed and has a lot of Go!

I'm at the stage where I wanna convert the old girl to manual. Now I've read a few forums already and there obviously seems to be a fair bit involved in getting this done;

A) Do I pour some money into her and get her converted
Or
B) do I sell her and try and find a factory manual EL xr8?

If I do go with the conversion there is no chance I will find a written off el xr8 manual, so what parts do I need to get to make this happen and where, tuning etc (I'm located in Melbourne)

Thanks in advance people

i think the hardest part is getting the v8 t5 box! and possible the bell housing

everything else should be pretty easy , as i have heard there is a clutch pin you can buy instead of the pedal box to get the pedal working,
clutch and cable should be easy enough to order new,
same as a flywheel for a AU v8 manual

i am sure there would be someone like mal wood that would be able to supply you a box and all teh gear, maybe even a 6 speed? then you shorten the diff ratio more for quicker accel and still have a double overdrive for good highway cruise economy

I would say 3.9 or 4.1 diff gears are a much better option with the auto, ive just done a manual conversion to my s3 au xr8 and its a pita changing gears constantly, especially in traffic...
My auto eb xr8 is much more fun to drive with its 3.9 gears;)
Even with 3.45 factory diff gears in the au it still feels like the gearing is too tall with the manual, feels like a slug, considering putting 3.9 gears in the au as well:)
I would have kept the auto in the au xr8 if it hadn't have died on me... much cheaper to put a manual in it.

Ok so I can get my hands on an EB XR8 (manual)
What parts do I need to strip from it for my EL xr8.
Also are their any tutorials to follow online which I can use as a guide for the conversion. I'm considering doing it myself. Thank you for the replies so far

I think I did a thread on my ED Futura in the garage forum where I switched to manual. See if that helps you?

G'day 'XR9UtE',
I had a look through the garage section and I couldn't find your post on the manual conversion you did.
Im very close to finalising the purchase of the eb xr8, im excited to get this project going.
If anybody can link me to a step by step OR guide on how to do this conversion would be really appreciated.
Thank you guys :)

You're most welcome! Hopefully it has enough info? There's some electronic workshop manuals in the Techincal Documents forum.
