You guys have enhanced your reputation by admitting to your mistakes and taking responsibility - a lot on here don't. Mistakes are a part of your success, there's no getting around that.

Yeah dude, post back here how you get on with the aerial.

Will do mate. It'll be great to get the aerial working properly....Hasn't worked since I bought the car a couple of weeks ago.

Once you've finished, you'll look back at how easy it was to repair.

Went and got the replacement mast from Autobarn before and should be able to get stuck into it tomorrow once my girlfriends dad has finished building some cupboards (He currently has bits and pieces of timber all over the shed floor at the moment).

I replaced the mast on my aerial today and now it works perfectly. The old mast and white toothed cord were totally worn and buggered. Surprised at how easy it was to replace....Only took around 20 minutes.
Big thanks to snap0964 :)

Hey all I replaced the antenna on my ltd with one from a Fairmont but it wouldn't go up or down but when I swapped the bcm the antenna started to work but not much else did so I swapped to the original bcm and nownit won't go down

If your power radio antenna won't go up and down anymore, the problem is either a burned-out motor or the geared cable inside the mast. Both are easy DIY fixes. You can do the entire repair in about two hours. The parts run about $25 for a new cable/mast, plus the cost of the special wrench.

The motor works perfectly so I'm guessing as you said, The mast cord could be stripped.

Cheers!
